Anonymous: Hello! I stalk your blog regularly, and thank you so much for the Thor video links! I downloaded the 3-part Cinedub video, but they won't open with WinRar OR zipgenius. ;_; Can you tell me what program I can use to open them? Thank you for any help you can give me!

hi anon! sorry it took me so long to answer this TT i am a terrible person with the attention span of a moth etc etc

umm winrar should work! are you using a mac? if you are, i’ve personally found RAR Expander and StuffIt to be good unzippers.

secondly, make sure you have HJ-Split or Split&Concat or something similar so you can put all the parts together!

I’ve been meaning to do something like this for a while, but in the light of… recent events, I thought I’d better get on it right quick. A couple anons have very kindly (and civilly, might I add) sent in suggestions - thank you!

In no particular order, here is a list of all the Loki RP tumblrs I am aware of:

Please feel free to send in the urls of other Loki RPs I may have missed. I’m sure there are many, many more out there.

Sometime tomorrow I will update the master list and delete this linkless, sad little post!

  • -Loki lies about leaving to see the Dark Elves in Svartalfheim, going instead to see Thor and luring him out into a cave in the middle of nowhere. Jealousy ensues as usual. Thor ends up unconscious and…

Let me know if any of the links don’t work or if any of you know of more HQ uploads.

FYI: A telesync is recorded with a camera, sometimes from the projectionist’s booth, and therefore doesn’t have the greatest picture quality, but the sound is ripped directly from the source and is therefore teh awesome.

gaveedra-7-deactivated20130124: So I want to get into comics that feature Loki. Where would be a good place to start and what comics and issues do you recommend?

Hi @gaveedra-7! I’m really sorry it took me so long to get back to you. You see, while I’ve read some of the newer issues of Thor here and there, I’m very, very far from an expert on the comics… So I had to go find some people who were. Anyway, here’s what I’ve gathered from the people I asked. (A huge, huge thanks goes out to the wonderful @drasticsigns, who is a Thor comics guru, and @itsinthetrees.)

@itsinthetrees recommended that you start from the beginning, with the Lee/Kirby Journey into Mystery issues - having read bits of these, I agree; they are indispensable. Thor first appears in issue #83, but Lee and Kirby’s joint run doesn’t begin till #101. It lasts 78 issues, ending with issue #179.

Then you can move on to Walt Simonson’s run, which was published under the title The Mighty Thor. He worked on issues #337-382. I haven’t read any of these, but his work on Thor is widely considered some of the most brilliant in the series.

Then there’s the Dark Reign storyline, which introduced our beloved fem!Loki and is discussed in a more detailed fashion below.

@drasticsigns says: “There was a four part Loki miniseries that started in Dec. 2010 and was called “Loki.” It expands on Loki’s origin so it’s an interesting read.

Thor: First Thunder was a five part miniseries that retold Thor’s origin, and it’s basically Loki messing with Thor for five issues. The art is ugly, but it’s still a fun read.

Thor and the Warriors Four is a four issue miniseries in which Loki is the villain, but he has a smaller role in it. It’s a fun comic though. [Jessica: I’ve read this. It is the MOST ADORABLE THING OF ALL THE THINGS and definitely a must-read.]

Avengers: The Origin was a five part miniseries that retold the origin story of The Avengers, and Loki is the villain in it.

Ultimate Universe Loki is also in Ultimate Comics Thor which is only four issues so far.

If anyone is willing to do a little back reading and see the darker side of Loki, they can read the Ragnarok storyline at the end of Thor volume 2, issues #80-85. After that, there’s Thor volume 3 in which all of the Asgardians are resurrected, including Loki who comes back as a woman [fem!Loki~]. That’s 12 issues and leads directly into Thor volume 4 which was #600-621. But again, those stories focus mostly on Thor, but Loki and all the other Asgardians are present as well.

I don’t think there are many older comics about Loki as a kid. There were Tales of Asgard shorts at the end of issues throughout Thor volume 1, but I don’t think those have ever been collected into a book, unfortunately.”

So, to recap, here’s a simple numbered list:

  1. Lee/Kirby, Journey into Mystery, #83, #101-179
  2. Walt Simonson, The Mighty Thor#337-382
  3. Loki (December 2010), 4-part miniseries
  4. Thor: First Thunder, 5-part miniseries
  5. Thor and the Warriors Four, 4-part miniseries
  6. Avengers: The Origin, 5-part mini
  7. Ultimate Comics Thor, ongoing
  8. Thor volume 2, #80-85
  9. Thor volume 3
  10. Thor volume 4

And there you have it - an informal comics!Loki primer. Hope it was helpful!
